An Interview with William O’Hara

You might have seen William O’Hara leading the JMKW Development team on the last Tropical Smoothie Cafe build at North Mesa.  He is typically in the thick of it all when it comes to JMKW Development’s construction.  He definitely gets things done and he does it with sincere thought, creativity, and with the mind of a civil engineer.  William O’Hara is the Chief Project Manager for JMKW Development and boy does he have some amazing ideas of where JMKW Development can go.

What part do you play at JMKW Development?William

I am responsible for estimating and project management. Basically, I manage the project from the initial contact with the client  all the way to the finished product.

Where did you go to school and for what? What’s your degree?

I attended the University of Texas El Paso for Civil Engineering.

What is a Civil Engineer?

There are many fields under the civil engineering umbrella and as a general description they include but are not limited to structural, water and wastewater, transportation, geotechnical studies, construction management, hydrology, surveying.

What areas of construction/building/architecture are you passionate about?

I am passionate about new advancements in sustainable and green building, which is the future of building.

What do you love about El Paso?

I love El Paso for the wonderful people, the culture, and of course the food.

What’s your favorite thing to do in El Paso?

Golf, we get plenty of sunshine!

If you were to be an animal what animal would you be and why?

A Lion, because a lion is strong, intelligent, cunning and can survive on its own, but as part of a pride those qualities are magnified and remarkable things happen.
